Accommodations: Stay in the Historic Commodore Hotel in Linden, which has been rated one of the best places to stay in Tennessee or perhaps the other Historic Linden property: the newly renovated Miss Berdie’s Boarding House.  The restoration of these properties was recently the subject of articles as the catalyst of Downtown Linden’s Main Street makeover. For a step back further in time,  Commodore owners Michael and Kathy Dumont just finished restoring an 1892 Victorian property as a Bed and Breakfast.  Located 18 miles from Linden, The Commodore Inn at Clifton sits in the quaint town of Clifton alongside the Tennessee River.  Your getaway will include being greeted by a rose petal heart on your bed, and hand-made chocolates in your room.  The Commodore’s gracious innkeepers will worry about your romantic adventure and suggest area things to do to make your trip memorable, such as the following:

Hiking: Take a hike and find the perfect place for a picnic, especially if the weather forecast is favorable. A favorite area hike is Lady Finger Bluff just 12 miles from Linden. Gorgeous views of the majestic Tennessee River make this 2.6 mile hike a worthwhile effort. Legend has it that a lady leaped off the bluff in despair after she lost her lover. For YOUR statement of everlasting love, a selfie should suffice! Bonfire & Farm-to-Fork DinnerThe owners of the Commodore also have scheduled tours of their 400 acre – Ridgehaven Farms, 5 miles from the hotel, which has an abundance of creek trails, historical cemetery tour, petting zoo experiences and other eco-adventures.  End your tour with a bonfire and meal including locally harvested foods cooked over the fire.

Waterfalls & Caves: Enjoy the sounds and solitude of waterfall in secluded woods, or visit the mouth (& other end) of a cave. Ridgehaven Farms has several small but oh-so-beautiful streams & waterfalls.  A winter waterfall hike is particularly enjoyable as you pass caves and a fishpond.

Downtown Linden: Explore the unique downtown Linden shops and Artisans co-op.   Warm up at a coffee shop. End the day with a cocktail or glass of wine or at the Commodore’s Speakeasy Lounge. And don’t forget to sample the hand-crafted chocolates which will be in your room that night.

Dine: The Commodore will be offering savory Valentine’s menu items cooked with the freshest available ingredients and will have  something for every palette.  When available, nights are especially memorable with live music provided by local and regional musicians.  Make dining reservations well in advance!
