“+Kindred+” Duo plays at the Commodore Café Friday
Who knew – that by the age of 5, Brian Edwards was starting a career in music by listening to the “Eagles” on the radio? Simple piano lessons came soon after. To further his fascination, Brian watched and listened to regular guys “playing in the round” at his dad’s Outdoor / Hunting Club cookouts. At just 12 years old, Brian started “picking up” instruments – and even performing! First, he tried drums. Says Edwards, “I played out some, with older guys for a couple years before I picked up the guitar at 19. I started singing a lot more then.”
With playing and singing under his belt, Edwards then started writing music. “I enjoy writing as much, maybe more than playing/singing (although I don’t take time to do it near enough). I like the expression in music.” Others like it too, for Edwards has built a following of fans who flock to see him whenever he plays in public.
In the meantime, Edwards married and started a family with three adorable kids. After allll those years – who knew – that he’d end up marrying his piano teacher’s granddaughter?!
The second part of the “+Kindred+” acoustic duo is Sidney “Sid” Mays. At just 19, he is a guitar prodigy. Must run in the family, because his dad played guitar and even toured with some bands over the years. Sid is pretty much self-taught. His mom is the one who has influenced his love of music, though. She loved 70’s rock. Though Sid can play anything, “70’s rock is kinda his niche,” says Edwards.
See and hear “+Kindred+” at the Commodore Café on Friday, November 3rd, from 6-9pm. Take advantage of this opportunity to see them up close and personal!
